Build log/#011/Design

A new look got checked before it shipped

A glassier, more premium visual direction landed on the dashboard and product navigation — after fixing what didn't actually work yet.

The dashboard and product navigation moved to a new visual direction: deeper surfaces, soft acid-green glow accents, blurred glass on the header, rounded premium controls. It's a real departure from the previous restrained look, adopted deliberately rather than by accident.

Before it shipped, three real problems got fixed. A 'selected nav item' background colour was referenced but never defined, so it was rendering invisibly. The new premium input styling was written with !important, which would have force-overridden the login and signup forms' deliberate minimal underline inputs with a boxed, rounded style that didn't belong there — that's now a low-priority fallback instead, so intentional designs still win. And the dashboard's own navigation was sitting with only 24–32px of clearance at the top of the page, while the fixed public header above it is 68px tall — meaning the two would have overlapped. That's fixed to match the clearance already used correctly elsewhere.

Unused CSS for a couple of card treatments that were never actually wired to any component got removed rather than left as dead weight.
